Christmas and New Year has been and gone, and we’ve started a new year…. 2018!! Although January can be a tough (and long) month, there are some real positives to January. Here are our top reasons why January is the best month.
Lighter Days – Now we’re into January, the shortest day of the year is behind us, and those dark mornings will slowly but surely start get lighter and evenings longer. Hurray! No more waking up in the dark and coming home in the dark! Also, once the temperatures lifts and the sun shines, we will see the flowers bloom, and everything come back to life.
January Sales – You spent the last few months of 2017 shopping for everyone else. Well, now it’s your turn to shop for yourself! Even if you’re bank balance is looking a little light, there are sales on everything and everywhere!! That TV or pair of shoes you have been eyeing up could be yours at a discounted price.
You Time – November and December are CRAZY months! Visiting family and friends, Christmas parties, etc. Even though you may have had time off over Christmas it must feel like you’ve never been so busy! With all that out the way, you can now enjoy sometime for yourself. Whether that’s binging on that TV show you’ve been meaning to watch, or finishing that book you started in October!
Bigger Home – You never realise how big your home is until you take down the Christmas tree and all those decorations. It’s amazing how much of a difference it makes when your spare room is cluttered with presents and wrapping paper. Although, now you can see that wallpaper looks like it could do with an update; and those stairs need a lick of paint…..
New Start – Just because it’s a new year it doesn’t mean you have to have new year’s resolution. Promising yourself that this year is the year you’re going to learn the guitar, or join the gym. But it could be an opportunity for you to dust off the worries of 2017, and focus on the positive things in your life. Why not start a ‘Happiness Jar’ – inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert? It’s a simple way of reminding yourself of the good that came out of your day, even if the day has been a challenge. Every time something positive happens, pop a note into the jar and then at the end of your year you can look back on all the wonderful things of 2018.
