With Christmas just around the corner, most us will start to think about how much Christmas will cost – especially that Christmas shopping! We want to enjoy the festive season without worrying about the how much we’re going to spend, so we’ve put together our top tips to help you survive this Christmas!
Write a shopping list!
It’s so easy to over spend when you wonder around the supermarket without a shopping list – especially if you go shopping hungry! Writing down a shopping list of your favourite buys before you hit the store. This will help you to keep on track and keep the costs down.
Keep your eyes open!
Special deals are available everywhere, so you want to make the most of these if it something that is on your list or that you know will be used (or eaten) in the near future. Although be careful to not buy items just because it seems like a good deal!
At the end of the day!
Ask your local store or supermarket what time of the day do they mark down the prices of their products. That Gammon which has been reduced will be great for Christmas Day! Pop it in the freezer when you get home and then follow the defrosting instructions for the perfect ham.
Pay what’s it worth!
If you notice that the product you want isn’t 100% perfect – maybe the packaging is damaged, or the food isn’t flawless – this is a great opportunity to ask for it at a reduced price. Just make sure that the damage isn’t going to affect the use by date or the quality of the product.
Count those reward points!
Christmas is the ideal time to check how many reward points you have, and to get those vouchers out the drawer. The supermarkets will often put some extra goodies in the post for their loyal customers which is perfect way to help you save some extra pennies.
These are just a few tips on how to make the most of your money, but the most important thing is to make sure you enjoy the festive season.
